The Why-Because Method not only identifies root causes of an incident and causal relationships between factors, but can help to identify factor relationship patterns occurring over a number of incidents.

As a side, the systematic representation of factor relationships enables the analyst to identify a variety of possible countermeasures to prevent the analysed incident from occurring. This information can effectively be used for implementing the most cost-efficient countermeasures.
