YBT2 - En detail
Main concentration in the development of YBT2 was given to the collection of factors during an incident analysis and the causal relationships between them. The analyst only has to identify the causal relationships, the Why-Because Graph - an efficient form for representation of causal influences - is generated automatically using an efficient layout engine. The indication of causal relations between factors is accomplished using a graphical representation of these relations. The analyst only has to point out, which factor relates to another to add the causal relation into the analysis.
All actions and changes made to the analysis project using YBT2 are undoable, avoiding time consuming reconstruction after changes.
Special views for management of factor, actor and groups ease the collection of additional information like time of occurrence, factor type, and annotations / comments. Using this information, features like timeline representation, detailed factor lists, or group affiliation lists are automatically generated.
YBT2 supports the CausalML exchange format, making it possible to use information gathered with other tools or refining the results ensembled with YBT2.
YBT2 features a report generator, compiling information collected in the analysis in a presentable document. The style of the report can be adjusted to follow a given “corporate identity” specification. The elements used for the report can be chosen by the analyst. Main elements available are the Why-Because Graph either complete or in form of a Graph Atlas, a list of factors in abbreviated or detailed form, a timeline including actors involved in an event, transforming the timeline into a kind of Time-Actor Diagram.
The report can be supplemented by external documentation, that can be imported as PDF documents.
